Mark Waid Named Director Of Creative Development At Humanoids
Oct 03, 2018
Primarily known for his writing, award-winning scribe Mark Waid has worn many hats within the comic book industry over the years. Now he can add Director of Creative Development to his list of accomplishments.
Humanoids announced that Mark Waid will now be assisting in the development and refining of projects at Humanoids Publishing. Accompanying Waid's appointment was a new logo reveal (below), as well.
Known for his genre-defining works on Kingdom Come, The Flash, Captain America, and Daredevil (just to name a few), Mark Waid's work outside of writing has been just as integral to our beloved industry. He has been a comic shop retailer, the Editor-in-Chief at BOOM! Studios, CCO at BOOM! Studios, and helped kick-off his own digital comics platform.
Not without controversy, Waid made headlines twice over the weekend. First for a legal battle with YouTuber Richard Meyer, and later that day for presenting the Mike Wieringo Spirit Award to Mech Cadet Yu.
From Humanoids:
“Mark Waid has written some of the most popular and most influential stories in the history of comics,” said Humanoids CEO and Publisher, Fabrice Giger. “To bring a writer like Waid into the fold―to both write new stories and to help us develop and refine other projects―speaks to the ambition and seriousness of our plans for the future.”
This reveal comes on the heels of Humanoids appointing artist John Cassaday as Chief Creative Officer and ahead of the publisher's New York Comic Con panel (Room 1A02 at 1:30 p.m) on October 5th. One that promises even more major announcements.
