John Cassaday Joins Humanoids As Chief Creative Officer
Sep 27, 2018
Earlier today, The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that renowned comics artist John Cassaday will be assuming the role of Chief Creative Officer of Humanoids Publishing. Cassaday is best known for his critically-acclaimed and fan-favorite work on Astonishing X-Men (DEC170398) with Joss Whedon, Planetary (APR170433) with Warren Ellis, and, more recently, Star Wars (MAY150811) with Jason Aaron.
Cassaday's relationship with Humanoids goes back to 2004, as the artist behind Fabien Nury's I Am Legion (MAR111169), a supernatural World War II story. Cassaday now returns to the publisher with an eye on developing original content that "will have the industry talking."
From the Hollywood Reporter:
The announcement of Cassaday's new role with the company comes in advance of an announcement at New York Comic Con, currently scheduled for the publisher's Oct. 5 panel, Humanoids 20th Anniversary in America. The official description of the panel — taking place in Room 1A02 at 1:30 p.m. — teases that the company is "about to make history again as it did in the past with legendary creators such as Moebius, Jodorowsky, Ladronn and Manara," promising "New projects! New heroes! Hot creators! A bold new direction ushering in a new era in comics."
"This is the first time I've taken on an executive role at a company," said Cassaday. "And that speaks to just how excited I am to be a part of a bold new chapter in their history. Fans who attend the New York Comic Con panel will be a part of it on Day One."
