Ball State Students Win Award for Presenting Scientific Research in Comic Book Form

A video detailing how students in Ball State University's Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation (LSAMP) created a comic book to present their scientific research has won the prestigious Experts’ Choice Award by the National Science Foundation (NSF).

According to an article published by Ball State University, "Chemistry and Biology students in Ball State’s LSAMP program partnered with students from the University’s graphic arts management program to present research in a novel way."

They worked together to present their scientific findings in comic book form where “'...a narrative unfolds for four superheroes who seek to rescue the LSAMP research from a villain,' explained , professor of chemistry and IN (Indiana) LSAMP director."

The video shows how students of different disciplines can come together to create something new in the typically traditional world of science, and provides a great example of how comics help to bring people together and innovate.

Ball State University's Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation (LSAMP) will receive a $2,500 for winning the prestigious award. Click here to find out more and to read the comic the students produced.
