Comic Book Girl 19 Explains 'House of X' and 'Powers of X'
Apr 06, 2020
It's no big secret or surprise that Jonathan Hickman's X-Men run has won back many lapsed comic book readers. Kicking off with House of X last summer, Hickman, along with artist R.B. Silva and Pepe Larraz, have reignited Marvel's mutants to both critical and fan acclaim. Now, fan-favorite YouTuber and life-long mutie lover Danika XIX can be added to the list of fans.
After walking away from the franchise for a few years, she posted a new video on YouTube today where she reviewed the first six issues of House of X and Powers of X. "I'm reading again," decalres Danika in the above video. "I'm reading X-Men for the first time again!"
If Danika looks familiar to you it's because she used to go by "Comic Book Girl 19." Under that moniker, she gained an immense following for video essays about sci-fi and comics. Videos such as her Watchmen book club, Greater Creators, Epic History of the X-Men, and more.
Personally, I find most of her videos a lot of fun, and this recent upload is additionally enjoyable because (having thrilled to Hickman's X-Men in real time myself) I get to vicariously relive HoX and PoX through someone else. All the thrills, the "holy crap" moments, and yeah...the confusion.
Oh. Tread carefully. Some bad words are said. Out of excitement.
