Hake's First Premiere Auction of 2019 Now Open

The opening of Hake’s first premiere auction of 2019 kicks off on Tuesday, February 19. Featuring another eclectic mix of Americana and pop culture collectibles, Auction #226 will close on March 13-14.

Many of the highlights of the 1,806-lot auction can be found in baseball memorabilia, Star Wars, concert and movie posters, Disneyana, political items, comic books, and original art.

Leading the auction are four pieces of original art featuring current and enduring characters. They include a New Mutants #98 original comic art page depicting Deadpool, Infinity Wars Prime #1 Greg Hildebrandt variant cover painting, All-Star Superman #6 cover art by Frank Quitely, and Sandman #14 original art by Mike Dringenberg.

There are 200 CGC-certified comic books in the auction, anchored by a selection of key Spider-Man comics that include Amazing Fantasy #15 CGC 3.0 (first Spider-Man), and The Amazing Spider-Man #1 CGC 6.0 (first J. Jonah Jameson and Chameleon), #2 CGC 6.5 (first Vulture), and #3 CGC 7.5 (first Doctor Octopus).

Baseball fans who are ready for the 2019 season to start can bid on a few exceptional collectibles. Hake’s will offer a 1924 inaugural Negro League World Series Monarchs/Hilldale panoramic photo with eight Hall of Famers and 1924 Eastern Colored League champs Hilldale Giants team photo with Hall of Famers Louis Santop, Biz Mackey, and Judy Johnson. Over 150 PSA graded Cracker Jack baseball cards from 1914-1915 will be sold, including a 1915 “Shoeless” Joe Jackson #103 PSA Good 2 card.

Flags and buttons are highlights in the political section, including a rare “For President Abram Lincoln” 1860 parade flag, Henry Clay T. Frelinghuysen and Joseph Markle PA coattail campaign flag, fabled Harry Truman 8-ball button Hake #128, and Willkie tagging Roosevelt “Out at Third” prized political and baseball button rarity.

Once again, Hake’s is listing many Star Wars collectibles from the extremely rare to widely affordable. Some of the major pieces are the Empire Strikes Back Bespin Alliance three-pack Series 1 AFA 75, Lili Ledy Tusken Raider 12” Series AFA ng, Cantina Adventure set with Blue Snaggletooth AFA 80, Boba Fett life-size Don Post figure, Luke Skywalker double telescoping 12-back-A with SKU on stand AFA 80, and a Han Solo (small head version) 12-back-A AFA 80.

A few other highlights include the rarely seen first printing of Mickey Mouse Book – the first Mickey book, Blue Ribbon pop-up books rare store promotional display featuring Mickey and Buck Rogers, and a Buck Rogers 25th century rare button in high grade.
