Spider-Woman Co-Creator, Marvel Artist Marie Severin Dies at 89

Marie Severin, a longtime artist for Marvel and co-creator of Spider-Woman, died August 30 following a stroke. She was 89. 

Her passing was confirmed by friend and fellow Marvel stafer Irene Vartanoff. 

Her first comic book work was coloring October 1949's A Moon, a Girl... Romance #9, drawn by her brother, John. In 1976, she co-created Spider-Woman alongside Archie Goodwin. 

She also provided work for Doctor Strange, Sub-Mariner and The Incredible Hulk. Severin was inducted into the Will Eisner Comics Hall of Fame in 2001.
