The Horror! The Horror!: Zombies And Gore Are The Rage
Aug 09, 2016
Finally! An ongoing monthly article that makes you face the monsters in the closet. You can run, but you can't hide from our selected ghoulish items in PREVIEWS that will make you flee and scream bloody murder. Horror fiends: let the madness begin! This is the run-down on what ghastly items can be found in this month's PREVIEWS catalog. If you can't take the chills, TOO BAD! This is where the children of the night gather, and howl at the moon without apology.
Call of Duty: Zombies #1
Who are the unlucky soldiers that must fight for survival against the undead horde in Call of Duty: Zombies #1 (AUG160054) ? Ahh, what does it matter? They'll be worm food before midnight! That is, if there's anything left for the worms to eat! That's how bad it looks from writer Justin Jordan and artist Jonathan Wayshak. Not much room for hope in this mini-series that shows the backgrounds of Stuhlinger, Misty, Russman, and Marlton. Think they're happy that they have to find the Tranzit crew last seen in the "Buried" map? Nope. They're dealing with a fractured future Earth infested by zombies. See if they head for the hills, or still heed the call of duty. Look for it from Dark Horse Comics in the August PREVIEWS!
Cannibal #1
A brand new series dedicated to introducing the perfect dinner guest: the guy who wants to eat not what's on the menu, but those who are sitting around the dinner table! Writers Brian Buccellato, Jennifer Young, and artist Matias Bergara aren't making this tale easy to swallow (oh, rim shot!). Things are actually worse than just one guy who wants to bite your arm like it's a chicken wing. The problem is actually a full-scael a cannibal pandemic! A small Everglades town is ground zero for Cash and Grady Hansen, who have to face the uncomfortable truth of being on the menu for those who, just yesterday, would have given them a wave and a smile. Now a virus begins to infect everyone they love, and they're left with only one solution: kill 'em all. Look for Cannibal #1 (AUG160575) from Image Comics in the August PREVIEWS!
Zombie Tramp 2016 Halloween Special #1
She's not just another pretty face in that costume. Writer Dan Mendoza, Jason Martin, and various artists want to show you how she's the one date you should be very afraid of when you go to the Halloween party. Risque raucous behavior is a given, as is unexpected turns in the twisted tales, murderous tricks, and tainted treats you'll find in Action Lab Entertainment's Zombie Tramp 2016 Halloween Special #1 (AUG161092). Just take a look at the cover. Does it look like the evening is going to be spent merely bobbing for apples or spending 5 minutes in a closet after a round of spin-the-bottle. Somebody's not going to be leaving the party tonight. Look for this one-shot in the Comics and Graphic Novels section of the August PREVIEWS!
Lord of Gore #1
If you know your B-Movie history, then you know the 80s was the footprint for all slasher movies at their peak. The genre was taken to the razor's edge. Drowning in viscera was a fate that waited for all teenagers and wanna-be heroes. And it made for great films that turned a profit. But in Devil's Due Lord of Gore #1 (AUG161573) from writer D.B. Stanley artist Daniel Leister, we see that a costumed slasher actor has actually murdered a young actress in ways worse than what was written by the screenwriter. That same struggling screenwriter has now also learned that the slasher has stepped from the screen into real life! Suddenly, a life spent on thinking of ways to murder people may be the wrong career choice. Find out who's next to fall under the knife in this new series found in the Comics and Graphic Novels section of the August PREVIEWS!
Tales From The Crypt #1
You just can't keep a good thing down. But in the case of a classic horror comic title like Tales From the Crypt #1 (AUG161840), the adage would probably be more like, "you just can't keep a talking corpse quiet." Yes, no matter how perfect the crime, or how slick the execution, bad things will always rise to the surface, like bubbles breaking the water after a motorist drives off a bridge. The dead just don't stay dead if they were nasty in life. And they actually come at you in three's, like you'lll see in the trio of tales lined up in this first issue that focuses on the root of all evil: money! Publisher Super Genius brings on board writers like Gerry Conway and artists like Robert Hack to deliver some stories that will make you keep the doors locked, and leave the lights on in every room of your abandoned haunted mansion. Look for Tales From the Crypt #1 in the August PREVIEWS!
And be back here next month for the next installment of The Horror! The Horror!
