Paramount Officially Announces Fourth Star Trek Film

Paramount Pictures has made the official announcement that a fourth film in the current Star Trek series has been greenlit. The core cast will be returning while the character of Chekov will be retired due to the death of cast member Anton Yelchin. The next film in the popular film series will deal with time travel as Captain Kirk meets his father played by Chris Helmsworth, who will return to the role he originated in the first JJ Abrams film. No director has been announced for the latest film; the third installment in the franchise is set to hit theaters July 22, 2016.
