THE Guide: Overstreet Price Guide #42 Available Now
Jul 06, 2012
The Catwoman hardcover edition of The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide #42 featuring the striking cover art by Adam Hughes has sold out from Diamond Comic Distributors ahead of the Guide’s July 11, 2012 debut in comic shops and at Comic-Con International San Diego.
The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide #42 was solicited with four standard editions, two cover images each offered in hardcover and soft cover. In addition to the Catwoman cover by Adam Hughes (Batgirl, Wonder Woman), the Guide was also offered with a powerful recreation of John Buscema’s iconic cover to The Avengers #58 by acclaimed artist Joe Jusko (Conan, Vampirella).
“We’re very thankful for the support the industry continues to show the Guide,” said Robert M. Overstreet, author and publisher of the industry Bible. “We knew Adam Hughes’ stunning cover would be popular the minute we first saw it. It’s always great when retailers and our fellow fans share our opinion. Now we’re extremely happy that we were able to overprint the hardcover edition of Joe Jusko’s powerful Avengers cover, but it looks like it’s going fast, too.”
The softcover version of the Catwoman cover and both the hardcover and soft cover versions of Jusko’s Avengers cover remain available at this point, though Diamond has less than 100 copies of that hardcover as of this date. As with the Catwoman hardcover, comic book shops across North America and around the world should receive their full initial orders and May and June reorders of all three of these editions.
The Catwoman hardcover edition of the Guide will not go back to press.
“Not only would we like to once again thank Adam Hughes for his fantastic cover with its strong central image and inspired small details, we’d also like to acknowledge our friends at DC who helped make this possible, including John Rood, Adam Philips and Mark Chiarello. We knew going in that Adam’s schedule was very tight, and DC was great about helping us get this through their approval system,” said J.C. Vaughn, Gemstone’s Associate Publisher and Executive Editor.
Now in its fifth decade as the preeminent source of comic book pricing information, The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide has been the definitive guide for collectors and dealers alike since 1970. This 42nd edition includes all new insights, features and data, along with the most comprehensive listing of comics from the 1500s to the present, and all new entries in the Overstreet Hall of Fame. It is used by dealers as well as new collectors and seasoned enthusiasts.
There are two additional versions of The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide available, a special fundraiser limited edition of 500 hardcover copies featuring Batman and Grendel available exclusively from the 501(c)(3) charity The Hero Initiative (available the same day as the standard editions) and a limited edition, spiral-bound, oversized edition known as The Big, Big Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide #42 (due out in late August), which returns after a four-year hiatus due to popular demand.
