This issue of Illustration features the spectacular art of J. Frederick Smith, best known for his sexy editorial illustrations for Esquire, Collier's, and many more fiction magazines of the 40s and 50s. Smith later became a noted glamour photographer, shooting many Playboy centerfolds and other fashion oriented subjects. Also featured is illustrator J. Fleming Gould, known best for his black-and-white interior illustrations for numerous pulp and men's adventure magazines, and an overview of the history of Schoonover Studios, filled with unpublished photographs, as well as gorgeous illustrations from many Schoonover studio artists. Plus, numerous book reviews, exhibitions, and events round out the issue.
