The BBC's Doctor Who: Time Lord Victorious Event Begins in Titan Comics' 2-Part Mini-Series
Aug 27, 2020
Arriving in comic shops September 2nd and still available for reorder, Titan Comics' Doctor Who: Time Lord Victorious #1 kicks off the ambitious BBC multiplatform event, Time Lord Victorious, a multi-Doctor storyline that spans novels, comics, audios, figurines, and more.
In the tenth Doctor's penultimate adventure, "The Waters of Mars," the scientiests of Bowie Base One, humanity's first outpost on the red planet Mars, faced annihilation from an unstoppable water creature. The tenth Doctor, powerless to intervene because this moment was, in his words, "a fixed point in time and space," left the multinational crew to their fate. But, as the Last of the Time Lords, without none of his people remainning to judge him and his actions, the Doctor named himself the "Time Lord Victorious," free to alter time to his own whims, and so he changed the fate of Bowie Base One's scientists and saved them from their pre-ordained deaths.
This autumn the BBC, in conjunction with Big Finish Productions, BBC Books, Titan Comics, Panini, and Hero Collector, explore the ramifications of the tenth Doctor's decision in a multiplatform storytelling event, Time Lord Victorious. Spanning audio dramas, novels, comics, and collectibles, Time Lord Victorious features the tenth Doctor in a battle against death itself at the dawn of time, a battle that draws in old enemies, including the Daleks and the Master, and pits the Doctor against his eighth and ninth incarnations.
This multiplatform story begins with Titan Comics' Doctor Who: Time Lord Victorious a two-part mini-series from Jody Houser and Roberta Ingranata, the creative team behind the recent team-up of the tenth and thirteenth Doctors in Titan's Doctor Who: A Tale of Two Time Lords (JUN201376, $16.99). In addition to beginning the multiplatform series, Doctor Who: Time Lord Victorious features the first appearance of the Doctor's greatest foes, the Daleks, in the pages of Titan's Doctor Who ocmics:
A thrilling new adventure for the Tenth Doctor (as played by fan-favorite David Tennant) that sees the shocking return of his deadliest enemies: the Daleks! But things aren't what they seem — time is all wrong, and something is coming that terrifies even the Daleks…
The first issue, in stores on September 3rd and still available for reorder, ships with five covers.

Though Time Lord Victorious spans comics, novels, audios, and more, fans can be assured they they can follow as many — or as few — of the projects as they wish. Each project is self-contained, and taken together, they build into a larger tapestry.
For Doctor Who fans who wish to continue with Time Lord Victorious beyond Titan Comics' tow-part mini-series (or its collected edition, [SEP201482, $16.99]), BBC Books is publishing two novels by fan-favorite novelists that expand on the concept of a time war at the dawn of time itself and three Doctors' role in that struggle against the Kotturuh, the bringers of death.

Doctor Who: Time Lord Victorious Book 1: The Knight, the Fool and the Dead Written by Steve Cole "We live forever, barring accidents. Just like everyone else in the universe." The Doctor travels back to the Dark Times, an era where life flourishes and death is barely known… Then come the Kotturuh … creatures who spread through the cosmos dispensing mortality. They judge each and every species and decree its allotted time to live. For the first time, living things know the fear of ending. And they will go to any lengths to escape this grim new specter, death. The Doctor is an old hand at cheating death. Now, at last, he can stop it at source. He is coming for the Kotturuh, ready to change everything so that life wins from the start. Not just the last of the Time Lords. The Time Lord Victorious. (AUG201222, $12.99) |
Doctor Who: All Flesh Is Grass Written by Una McCormack "Even a Time Lord can't change the past." A wasteland. A dead world… No, there is a biodome rising from the ashes. Here, life teems and flourishes, with strange, lush plants and many-winged insects with bright carapaces — and one solitary sentient creature, who spends its days talking to the insects and tending this lonely garden. This is Inyit, the Last of the Kotturuh. These are The Dark Times. The Tenth Doctor has sworn to stop the Kotturuh, ending death and bringing life to the universe. But his plan is unraveling — instead of bringing life, nothing has changed and all around him people are dying. Death is everywhere. Now he must confront his former selves — one in league with their greatest nemesis and the other manning a ship of the undead… (AUG201223, $12.99) |
The role of the ninth Doctor and Rose Tyler in Time Lord Victorious is expanded upon a three-part comic strip story that begins in the pages of Doctor Who Magazine #556 (SEP201370, $11.99).
