NBCUniversal’s Peacock streaming network will launch a reboot of Battlestar Galactica, it was announced on September 17.

Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail will serve as executive producer of the new series, which, according to The Hollywood Reporter, “will be an updated, more modern look at the world as told through the lens of the sci-fi favorite. The updated Battlestar Galactica, sources say, will be inspired by Syfy's 2004 series, developed by Ron Moore, and not based on the 1978 original from creator Glen A. Larson.”

No writers or cast have been announced for the show, which will be produced by Universal Content Productions.

Peacock is set to launch in April 2020 with a lineup of more than 15,000 hours of content, with original series premiering after the 2020 Summer Olympics.
