What got you into comic books? Not as a pro but as a reader?

I began reading and collecting comics as early as 1974. I would see them at the local flea market and was fascinated by the interplay of words and pictures. I read everything but gravitated toward Marvel Monster books and Warren’s Creepy and Eerie magazines.

What was the moment or thing that prompted you to independently produce your own book?

My entry into publishing came from a distinct need; my former publisher dropped me, and other publishers passed on my work. I saw a need that was not filled in the market and decided to take a run at it, launching the classic Chaos! Comics line in the 1994.

What fun titles are you reading?

I’m enjoying The Walking Dead (Vol. 1 HC / SEP110441), it’s great to have a long running creative team on a book! Redneck (Vol. 1: Deep in the Heart / AUG170579) and anything Donny Cates writes, because his work has a distinct energy! And Zombie Tramp (DLX Year One HC / MAY161021) because Dan Mendoza is a bad-ass! I’m also enjoying Jason Aaron’s run on The Avengers (by Jason Aaron Vol. 1: Final Host / JUL181176) right now, and it’s a wondrous blast!
