Indie Edge: Terry Moore

Please tell us a bit about yourself!
Well, I’m an American cartoonist known for creating and self-publishing four comic books series, Strangers in Paradise, Echo, Rachel Rising, and Motor Girl. My wife Robyn and I publish through our own imprint Abstract Studio — I make the comics, she runs the business. We make a great team. Together we’ve won the Eisner, Harvey, GLAAD, and Reuben Awards for our books.
What are your favorite projects you’ve contributed to over the past decade?
I’ve been fortunate to work on numerous mainstream titles over the years, including Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane, Runaways, Ultimate Spider-Man, Star Wars, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and The Simpsons. Honestly though, I think the two jobs I’m most grateful for are a 2-page story for Legends of The Mouseguard, and an 8-page story for Peanuts—A Tribute to Charles Schulz.
What are you currently working on?
The new series, Strangers in Paradise XXV! 2018 is the 25th Anniversary of my comic book debut with the first issue of SIP, so we want to bring the series back for fans of the series and hopefully introduce it to a new generation of readers. I’m convinced that Francine and Katchoo are still cooler than us and I’m determined to prove it!
I’m also writing a script for the Strangers in Paradise movie. IMG Global is backing the project and Angela Robinson is onboard to direct. It’s the perfect setup for a great result and we’re all determined to make something wonderful.
What fun titles are you reading?
I don’t know if this counts, but I just got the complete box set of March (Trilogy Slipcase Set / JUN160409). I’ve heard so much about it, I’m really looking forward to reading it. I read anything by David (Mouseguard) Petersen and Skottie (I Hate Fairyland!) Young. Those guys make life better for all of us. I also think Katie Cook is a national treasure. She’s a wonderful cartoonist and very funny. She makes lots of different books and we need to read every one of them.
