Rafer Responds To Being A Renegade
Oct 05, 2017
You may not have noticed it, but the fact is that Rafer Roberts is a regular to the Baltimore Comic Con scene. There’s no place he’d rather be, and his persistence to work in the comics biz has finally paid off for him in that now he’s the writer for Valiant Entertainment’s Harbinger: Renegade. Rafer is proof positive that when you love something you should keep at it until you that door of opportunity finally swings open. When it did for him, he didn’t wait for the door to close. He moved at top speed, grabbed his writing gig, and hit the ground running. He's been running against the clock ever since.
“We’re putting issue #8 to bed basically as we speak,” Rafer explains. “Expecting a phone call from my editor, probably in the middle of this interview.”
Such is the life of a writer, where editorial staff expect you to be available 24-7 for comments and corrections.
“We’re putting an end to the current arc, Massacre,” Rafer offered. “We’re killing off one major character, and very gratified reading all the reactions to that.”
The joy, he claims, is the aftermath. There’s so much to do in the wake of a character’s death if you’re a writer. This is what pushes a professional to see just how far he can take his creativity.
