Justin Jordan's Sci-Fi Juvie-Style

Once a horror guy, always a horror guy. But that doesn't mean you sell yourself short. One should always allow for growth, and the best way to do that is to challenge yourself, and set the bar higher above the safe space. At this year's Baltimore Comic con, PREVIEWSworld asked Justin Jordan about his new series at Image Comics which appeared to be the writer's attempt at doing just that — an attempt at doing something completely different from Luther Strode and The Spread.

"The Spread has been going on at Image for a few years now, but we're actually wrapping up the run with issue #25 in January 2018. We actually took the book where we wanted to go story-wise, so I'm happy with it."

The question, however, was if the writer's new title would still be directed at a mature audience? The answer, Justin assured us, was "No."

"The Family Trade is very different for me," he explained, "It's actually a book you could conceivably give to a teenager without getting arrested...which is different than most of my books."

Those fans who have read Jordan's Luther Strode comics know exactly what the writer means. In detail. Jordan's books typically don't stray far from the gore factor. But The Family Trade, he asserted, was a far cry from bloodletting and eye-gouging.

"It's not quite a YA book, but it's in that kind of range. It's a really fun book."

Meaning, he smirked, imagine super spies on a floating city.

What? you say. Not some guy in bandages ripping off body parts? Is The Family Trade really a Justin Jordan book? The answer: yes. The answer part 2: the first issue is in stores October 11!
