DC Restores Classic Image To Promote Diversity

Article Image 3f45

A 1950’s-era color poster has been circulating recently, showing Superman speaking to school children about the importance of respecting diversity. Here's the back story. In 1949, DC (National Comics) produced this same image and text originally for a 12 x 18” brown paper school book cover featuring the work of Superman artist Wayne Boring. The image was distributed to schools by the Institute for American Democracy, an offshoot of the Anti-Defamation League. Earlier this year, DC's art team began digitally restoring the image, offering a much larger and clearer image of the now-classic piece of artwork that embodies a core American value.
