Sebastian Girner Is Not Your Average Bear-Fighter

Comics come in all shapes, all sizes, and all flavors. In fact, the flavor that some of us tasted at San Diego Comic Con was honey. See, we managed to steal a honey pot from Winnie The Pooh, and life was good…for a minute, anyway. As fate would have it, along came a shirtless bear fighter that punched out poor ol’ Pooh bear before we could object, and that’s when the saints began to cry.

Sound like we just checked out of Hotel California, and went stir crazy? Well, yeah, that’s what happens when you read Image Comics’ Shirtless Bear-Fighter from wacky writer Sebastian Girner. He along with co-writer Jody Leheup have created a comic so crazy that you, too, will go coo coo for Cocoa Puffs. It’s got this naked, bearded guy who walks around without pants that punches out bears, and it’s 100% over-the-top trail mix. So, naturally, we had to corner Sebastian when we saw him at this year’s show, and try to get a few minutes with him to talk about his new book as issue #1 of the series had already hit the shelves, and we wanted to know what he could say about the upcoming issue #2.

“It’s everything that you loved about #1 … but even crazier,” Girner smirked, and added “I’m only going to say that he meets this Hillbilly Warlock character that will stand the test of time. It gets better every issue.”

For those of you who are big fans of Bob Burden’s Flaming Carrot Comics, Girner and Leheup’s new book is a recycled welcome mat that doesn’t bring shirts to bear fights. Trust us when we say you’ve been warned. Watch the video interview above, and look for Shirtless Bear-Fighter at a comic shop near you!
