Staff Picks (August): 4 Kids Walk Into a Bank TP

My favorite book to debut in 2016 is the coming-of-age crime caper 4 Kids Walk Into a Bank. It’s fun, witty, hilarious, and dark all in the same package.
Paige gets in way over hear head after four suspicious goons show up to her house, looking for her dad. Having worked with these criminals in the past, her dad is being recruited for one last job. Wanting to keep her Dad safe, Paige tries to control the situation in the best way that she can – by enlisting her friends to rob the bank first!
The creative team is a perfect pairing. Matthew Rosenberg (We Can Never Go Home, Kingpin) and Tyler Boss (Lazarus, Calexit) showcase their ability to create and develop engaging characters. Paige and her crew are an enjoyable cast, obsessed with playing RPG’s and doing what kids do, but each character is layered and a vital part to the story. With art reminiscent of David Aja’s work on Hawkeye, Tyler Boss brings expert design to every single page. Each chapter is filled with something that will leave you staring in awe.
4 Kids Walk Into a Bank is exactly what comics should be, and the collected story is a must-add for your shelf.
