At the end of the day I asked my team one question? What did we sell besides Star Wars #1?
Yesterday was a great day for most retailers for this awesome new title. We had our second best Wednesday in history because we sold more of everything else than what we knew we were going to sell in Star Wars alone.
The key was that a portion of fans that came in yesterday were Star Wars fans... not comic book fans. Our job was to sell them more comics by asking them key questions. What other movies do you like? Did you know that Dark Horses has some older great stuff as well? Do you know what a subscription box is?
Wednesday we sold:
- 15 Civil War Trades
- 13 Avenger vs X-men trades
- 10 Wolverine Old Man Logan trade
- 10 Blackest Night
In total we sold over 120 trades to new comic book Fans.
Star Wars #1 was a great platform for new fans and they walked out the door with more than just Star Wars #1 in their bags.

Space Cadets Collection Collection - Oak Ridge, Texas
Space Cadets Collection Collection had an amazing and record sales setting event. We had a silent auction for some of the rarer variants and some of them had stipulations like buying a Star Wars action figure, trade paperback or wearing a costume to be eligible to get one. We had official visits from Obi-Wan Kenobi, Darth Vader and his group of Stormtroopers, Boba Fett and Cad Bane. Our café (The Lava Cookie) had wonderfully yummy Star Wars Comic Day special menu items (Grill-ennium Falcon was my favorite- a hamburger patty and fixings in between two grilled cheese sandwiches).
