Sanity Sucked Into The Alluring Black Vortex

In the depths of space, an ancient artifact of immense power is uncovered. Called the Black Vortex, it holds the power to unlock an individual's cosmic potential.  Many seek to claim the Vortex for themselves, and the scramble to claim the cosmic power of the artifact will see two teams join forces to safeguard the galaxy in Marvel Comics' next cosmic event, The Black Vortex!

By unlocking one's cosmic potential, the Black Vortex can put anyone on par with the Silver Surfer or the Phoenix Force.  Immense power in the wrong hands could easily upset the cosmic order and endanger the universe, and when Star-Lord realizes the stakes and the importance of keeping the artifact out of the hands of those who would abuse its power such as the villainous Mr. Knife and some of the most heinous villains the Marvel Universe has ever seen, he knows that the Guardians of the Galaxy are outclassed. Calling on Kitty Pryde and her mutant allies, together the X-Men and the Guardians will fight to help him save the galaxy from the threat of the Black Vortex. But even heroes aren't immune to the lure of infinite power that the Black Vortex offers, and their best intentions may lead them to temptation as they give in to the artifact's effects!

Spearheaded by Sam Humphries, The Black Vortex kicks off in Guardians of the Galaxy & X-Men: The Black Vortex Alpha #1 (DEC140820) from Humphries and Ed McGuinness, and then continues into Brian Michael Bendis and Valero Schiti's Guardians of the Galaxy #24, Humphries and Paco Medina's The Legendary Star-Lord #9, and Bendis and Mahmud Asrar's All-New X-Men #38. Then in March, the story will expand from those titles into the pages of Captain Marvel, Cyclops, and Nova as well, encompassing Marvel's cosmic family of titles as the stakes are raised!
