DC Comics' biweekly event Brightest Day re-established many of the heroes of the DC Universe in the wake of Blackest Night, and DC Direct's Brightest Day Series 3 Action Figures gave fans detailed figures of characters such as Hawk and Dove and gave the manufacturer the best-selling Toy product to specialty retailers in September.
DC Direct had a strong month in September, with five of the month's top selling Toy products. In addition to the Brightest Day figures, the Women of the DCU Series 3: Supergirl Bust ranked #3 in sales, the Green Lantern Vs. Sinesto Mini-Statue ranked #5, the DC Universe Online: Solomon Grundy Statue ranked #8, and the Heroes of the DCU: Blackest Night Indigo-1 Lantern Bust ranked #9.
Diamond Select Toys had three products among the month's top sellers, led by the Universal Monsters Series 2 Retro Cloth Action Figures at #3, followed by the Marvel Select: Captain America: The First Avenger Movie: Red Skull Action Figure at #6, and the Back to the Future Time Machine Mark I Replica Car at #10.
Also in the top ten were McFarlane Toys with the Halo 10th-Anniversary Action Figures at #2 and Kenner with the Marvel Universe Super Hero Team Action Figures at #7.

How does Diamond calculate the charts? It all starts at the comic book shop.
Data for Diamond’s sales charts — which include the monthly market shares and all top product charts — are compiled by Diamond Comic Distributors from a universe of over 3,500 accounts, comprised of comic book specialty shops and other merchant stores and buyers. The shops are primarily located in North America, with a percentage of sales also to international stores and buyers located throughout the world. The account base includes not only brick-and-mortar comic book specialty shops, but also Internet stores, chain stores, and other specialty stores.
Unit and retail dollar sales are calculated based upon orders invoiced and shipped to Diamond accounts during any given month, which comprises initial pre-orders, advance reorders, and reorders, minus any copies that are received back from a title marked as returnable.
