CONCEPT: Al Simmons, once the U.S. government's greatest soldier and most effective assassin, was mercilessly executed by his own men.  Resurrected in a flawed agreement with the powers of darkness, Simmons was reborn as a creature from the depths of Hell.  Disfigured, homeless and alone, the warrior now known as Spawn wanders the shadowy alleys of New York City in search of his past life.
THIS ISSUE: "Scrawled," Part Two-A bizarre rash of murders. Six victims scattered throughout the country, all apparently unrelated, except for one common trait: Each corpse is left with strange, arcane writings carved on the inside of their bodies. With the assistance of Detectives Burke and Williams, Spawn connects these killings with the ramblings of a mental patient who perished a half-century ago, a man who went to his grave warning of demonic invaders. Has this madman's prophecy finally come to pass? And will Spawn be able to stop it in time?
