This book tells the epic story of the first comic collectors and their efforts to organize the world's first comic book convention. Featured is a complete blow-by-blow account of the convention with over 300 photographs and 45 pages of known biographical information about the 56 original attendees, including a 15-year-old future Game of Thrones writer George R. R. Martin and a young Len Wein, years before he created Wolverine and the new X-Men. Also presented are early 1960s interviews with Steve Ditko, Jack Kirby, Julius Schwartz, and more, along with long-lost art by Steve Ditko, Jack Kirby, and Curt Swan, and a complete reprinting of the 1964 New York Comicon program booklet.
