Falling in one of the greatest – if not the greatest – era of Avengers stories, coming on the heels of “The Korvac Saga” and kicking off the Chthon story arc, Avengers #185 is a superb, striking cover.

  • Free Comic Book Day: Mark Spears Monsters #0

Free Comic Book Day presents comic readers with the opportunity to find new titles that they haven’t read yet or ones with which they are unfamiliar. That was the case for me with Mark Spears Monsters #0, and I am very happy I grabbed it.

  • Free Comic Book Day: Marvel Voices

From Spider-Man to the Fantastic Four to Star Wars, Marvel offered several different titles for Free Comic Book Day 2025. Their Marvel Voices entry featured five stories that traveled from Chicago to Wakanda.

  • Free Comic Book Day: Superman’s Good Guy Gang

The Free Comic Book Day issue is a preview of the Superman’s Good Guy Gang graphic novel written and illustrated by Rob Justus. It’s definitely made for kids, complete with Saturday Morning Cartoon jokes and physical gags, but isn’t so over the top that adults can’t also enjoy the child-sized adventure.

  • Youngblood #1

All of the bold characters and raw, kinetic energy that made the original Youngblood #1 the symbol of the early days of Image Comics are on display here, but with more polish and sophistication. With creator-writer-artist Rob Liefeld regaining control over the characters, this new, 33-years-later version of the team is crackling.

  • Planet Death #0

Planet Death co-writer Derek Kolstad is best known as the screenwriter of John Wick, but he’s also written episodes of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and created Kevin Hart’s Die Hart series.

  • Batman #159

In Batman #158, Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee established that some creators do indeed get to go home once again with the first chapter of their new “Hush 2” storyline. The reader was immediately plunged into the mystery, the action, and the tone of the original “Hush” storyline, which of course began in Batman #608.

  • Youngblood Deluxe #1

Rescripted, recolored, relettered, and remastered, Youngblood Deluxe #1 flashes back to the arrival of Image’s Youngblood #1 from Malibu in 1992. With the characters back in the hands of creator Rob Liefeld and new adventures coming as well, it’s an excellent time to revisit the landmark issue in an upgraded presentation.

  • Green Hornet/Miss Fury #4

This issue only gets more intense from there as Miss Fury battles a powerful foe and Green Hornet starts to understand the magnitude of their current problem.
