Marvel’s Indigenous Heroes Get the Spotlight in the Marvel’s Voices: Indigenous Voices Trailer

Next month, celebrated writer and artist Jeffrey Veregge leads a team of Native American and Indigenous creators in the landmark special, Marvel’s Voices: Indigenous Voices #1. Together, this incredible cast of talent will explore the legacy and experiences of Marvel’s most prominent Indigenous characters in a series of thrilling stories.

First, Hugo, Nebula, and Locus-award winning Black/Ohkay Owingeh writer Rebecca Roanhorse and Tongva artist Weshoyot Alvitre bring fans an Echo tale like none before, setting the character up for a surprising comeback in the near future. Then, Geoscientist and Lipan Apache writer Darcie Little Badger joins acclaimed Whitefish Lake First Nation artist Kyle Charles for a Dani Moonstar story where she will face the crucial question of what her Indigenous heritage means in the new era of mutantkind.

“I am immensely grateful to be part of this project. The New Mutants (and other Marvel heroes) have made such a positive impact on my life, and I have a great deal of respect and affection for X-Men characters,” Darcie Little Badger told AiPT in a recent interview. "The fact that Indigenous Voices gave me the opportunity to contribute to the X-Men universe means everything. I take the responsibility very seriously and am honored to work with my Indigenous Voices co-creators.”

Fans will also enjoy a dark tale about Silver Fox before she met Wolverine by Bram Stoker-winning horror writer Stephen Graham Jones of the Blackfeet Nation and Qalipu Mi’kmaq First Nation artist David Cutler. In addition, the issue will feature commentary by Taboo of the Black Eyed Peas and writer B. Earl.

Check out a trailer for the issue, featuring never-before-seen artwork as well as Veregge’s Native American Heritage Tribute variant covers, depicting Marvel’s most popular heroes in his trademark Formline style. And be sure to celebrate National Native American Heritage Month by picking up Marvel’s Voices: Indigenous Voices #1 (SEP200605) at your local comic shop on November 18th!
