'Black Panther' Claims Marvel Studios' First-Ever Academy Award

Black Panther made even more Marvel history at the 91st Academy Awards.

Seven nominations led to three wins at the Oscars for the blockbuster, including the first ever win for Marvel Studios. The film won for Best Costume Design (Ruth E. Carter), Best Production Design (Hannah Beachler and Jay Hart) and Best Original Score (Ludwig Goransso).

Avengers: Infinity War's sole nomination for Best Visual Effects eventually went to First Man.

Black Panther wasn't the only Marvel hero to be honored, as Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse claimed the award for Best Animated Feature.

Miles Morales creator Brian Michael Bendis celebrated the win with fellow comic book writer Kelly Sue DeConnick, who shared the moment when Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse won.
