D.E.: Who's Nancy Drew, to you?

Kelly Thompson: Well, to me she's a sassy super independent detective, which is one of my favorite things ever. But one of my absolute favorite things about Nancy is the look on people's faces when you say her name. Everyone from my mother (who is never terribly interested in my superhero projects, but it very kind and pretends to be!) to friends of all different ages have this incredible connection to Nancy - and everyone sees her a bit differently. THAT is a powerful character that can connect to so many different people in so many different ways.

D.E.: Your story catches up with 17-year-old Nancy, whos been a detective for a long while, but seems hesitant to return to her hometown. Whats waiting for her in Bayport?

Kelly Thompson: The truth is Nancy doesn't know what's waiting for her in her hometown, which is at least one part of our mystery. She hasn't returned to Bayport since her mother died seven years ago and she's not sure if she's going to find friends or foes. But she is deliberately lead back there by an anonymous letter...so literally everyone is a suspect!

D.E.: Who else is on your creative team?

Kelly Thompson: I'm lucky enough to be re-teaming with my Jem and The Holograms and Misfits artist Jenn St-Onge, whose work never ceases to amaze me. She's an incredible collaborator with amazing storytelling instincts and some of the best character design work in the business. I love what she's doing with Nancy Drew and her world it's such a fun and effortless update to the classic.

I think people are going to love it. We've also got Triana Farrell on colors and she's bringing a slight edge and noir to Jenn's lighter more comedic style and I think we're all very excit­ ed about that mix. We've also got Ariana Maher on letters and she's doing some really interesting stuff that I think really adds depth and dimension to our world. And, of course, Tula Lotay is doing our primary covers, which is basically a dream come true for me. And herding all of these magnificent cats is our exceptional editor Nate Cosby, who I do not envy, but greatly appreciate!

D.E.: Is there a goat in your story? If so, explain.

Kelly Thompson: All the best stories have a goat. 'Nutt said!
