Sherlock Frankenstein and the Legion of Evil #1

Dark Horse Comics is uncovering the truth behind Jeff Lemire's smash hit series Black Hammer in the new mini-series Sherlock Frankenstein and the Legion of Evil #1 (AUG170010). Black Hammer’s daughter, Lucy Weber, has grown up to become an investigative reporter and now she’s on the case to find out what exactly happened after Spiral City’s superheroes defected Anti-God and saved their world. As Lucy untangles the web of intrigue all leads point to the dangerous supervillain tenants of Spiral City’s infamous asylum. Superman #33

The fight for the throne of Apokolips begins as Superman must help his long time enemy Lex Luther battle for a crown he did not ask for as “Imperius Lex” begins in Superman #33 (AUG170253). The factions of Apokolips are rising up to claim a kingdom that needs a ruler, but one candidate will need help from the Man of Steel as he is drawn into this deadly game of thrones. Things heat up elsewhere on the planet too, as Lois encounters the Female Furies and Jon must face the Children of the Firepits.

Kid Lobotomy #1

IDW Publishing’s new imprint Black Crown is making its debut with a bang as Peter Milligan and Tess Fowler team up to bring Kid Lobotomy #1 (AUG170373) to life. A darkly demented series that battles both sanity and salvation, Kid Lobotomy is unlike anything else on the shelves right now. A bizarre but fitting tribute to Kafka, King Lear, with a touch of Young Frankenstein; this mind-bending psychodrama will blow the hinges off your brain in the best way possible. At its heart this series is a touching family drama about siblings trying to run a hotel while surrounded with inner demons, outer demons, shapeshifting, and dysfunction. 

Maestros #1

Steve Skroce brings his latest series to Image Comics with the magical and mystifying Maestros #1 (AUG170542). The mighty and magical Maestro has been murdered along with his entire family – except for his son who was long ago banished to Earth. Now, his son must claim his birthright of the Wizard King’s throne along with a spell that will turn its user into a god. But enemies are on all sides and this young magic user is fighting for a home he barely knows; can he keep ahold of this newfound magic kingdom?

The Mighty Thor #700

The final judgement is coming and the Thors must unite to defeat Mangog as “Death of the Mighty Thor” begins in The Mighty Thor #700 (AUG170848). Jason Aaron is writing Jane Foster’s swan song as her cancer takes a turn for the worse and the beginning of the end is upon her as she heads into battle on last time. The clock is ticking, but will Jane make it to Ragnarok? It’s time for the War Thor to lead this army of gods into battle and usher in the most dramatic return in the Marvel Universe.
