Staff Picks (January): Space Riders — Galaxy Of Brutality #1

The bad-boy older sibling of the Guardians of the Galaxy is set to make a big return next year with Space Riders: Galaxy of Brutality. The new sequel sees Captain Peligro reassemble his ragtag crew of misfits to take on an unknown entity that is gaining power throughout the cosmos.

Space Riders is just as funny as it is extreme. It is a comic that presents a clear thesis on what it is, as a result of the master storytellers behind the project. From psychedelic art and colors by Alexis Ziritt that you won’t find in any other comic on the shelves, to unique lettering from the master Ryan Ferrier, the sequel to Black Mask’s breakout hit is on my list of the best comics to look forward to in 2017. Fabian Rangel Jr. ties it all together with butt-kicking plot and dialogue. There’s so much to enjoy within their stories that you are certain to leave satisfied.
