Staff Picks (March): Rachel Rising #42

I’ve been a fan of Terry Moore going back to when Strangers in Paradise was published by Antarctic Press.  Terry has proven to be adept at making the characters and situations in his stories — whether it's being yourself in Strangers in Paradise or science-fiction in Echo or the supernatural in Rachel Rising — believable and a compelling read.

Now almost five years after Abstract Studios introduced us to Rachel Rising and a new cast of characters, it's time to see them go. Terry is giving his fans one hell of a sendoff as Rachel Rising ends with #42 — Rachel is looking beyond her need for answers and along with Zoe teaming up with Lilith to face Malus and stop an apocalypse that’s already underway.

Terry Moore has proven himself to us over the years writing romance, crime, science fiction, supreme super heroics, runaway mutant teen angst, and has shown us how suspense and horror should be done. I know I’m prejudiced, but there isn’t a writer/artist who is any better than Terry.

While I’ll miss Rachel like I miss Echo and Julie Martin and the whole SIP group of Katchoo and Francine, Freddie, Casey, David, and Tambi, I’m sure we will see something new from Terry. If for no other reason as Robyn doesn’t want him sitting around the house.

Now let me go listen to some Griffin Silver while rereading books from the Abstract Studio library as I wait for that last issue of Rachel Rising — but definitely not the last of Terry Moore.
