PREVIEWSworld: In the Halo mythology, what is slipspace exactly?

Tyler Jeffers: Slipspace is a network of portals that most humans, Covenant and Forerunner vessels use to travel across the universe.

PREVIEWSworld: Tell us a little something about your individual stories.

Jon Goff: My story follows a team of Elite assassins on a mission to take out a target. They’re sent to take out a target who ends up being this new Banished leader named Atriox who is going to be appearing in Halo Wars 2; so, you kind of get an intro to Atriox, and get to see how these Elites deal with this kind of new breed of Brute.

Tyler Jeffers: My story is about a single Spartan-III who’s been deployed by the Office of Naval Intelligence to eliminate a high value target that’s an Elite leader.

PREVIEWSworld: What can Halo fans expect from Tales from Slipspace?

Tyler Jeffers: A wide variety of stories taking place in the timeline of post Halo 5 and pre-Halo Wars 2. There’s also stories that take place in a similar timeline that aren’t directly tied to the videogames. There’s also some direct nods to some pre-existing fiction that’s already out in the form of novels. So overall, I think fiction fans will be very pleased with the content that’s there, as well as videogame and casual fans.

Jon Goff: Yeah, I just think [readers should expect] to find a diverse chunk of lore with stories they can dive into whether or not they’re longtime Halo fans, or new to the lore side of the games.

PREVIEWSworld: Are we going to find out what happened to Cortana between sacrificing herself and controlling the guardians?

Tyler Jeffers: Yes...

Jon Goff: A little bit.

Tyler Jeffers: The story from Frank O’Connor does touch a little bit on the events of Halo 4, and then the events of Halo 5.

PREVIEWSworld: Any plans for future anthologies or more Halo comics?

Tyler Jeffers: Absolutely. We definitely have plans for more Halo comics. Whether it’s another anthology, whether it’s another monthly, whether it’s individual issues, it hasn’t really been decided yet. But we love doing Halo comics with Dark Horse, so we definitely see that relationship continuing.
