Indie Edge July 2016: Tyler Crook

Article Image 822ePlease tell us a bit about yourself!

My first comic was a book called Petrograd (written by Phil Gelatt). It was a spy thriller about the assignation of Rasputin. After that, I started getting jobs drawing books like The Sixth Gun and B.P.R.D.: Hell on Earth. I live in Oregon with my wife and pets and I need to start eating better and maybe go to the gym or something…

What are your favorite horror comics you’ve contributed to over the past decade?

I’ve only been in the biz for five years now, but luckily I’ve pretty much only done horror comics. B.P.R.D.: Hell on Earth will always be high on my list. I loved that series since it started and getting to work on it is something I’ll always be grateful for. But I think Harrow County is my favorite. I’m very proud of the work that Cullen and I have done and I’m excited for where we are going to take it.

What new horror title are you currently working on?

Harrow County! It’ll be taking up most of my time for the next few years!

What is the scariest horror title that you have read from any publisher?

The scariest comic I’ve read recently was a short story in an EC comic. The whole thing was written from the point of view of an empty grave longing for a corpse to fill itself. I found it really disturbing!

But I think the scariest book I ever read was The Biologic Show by Al Columbia (). It’s kind of hard to find nowadays but it’s worth it if you do.
